The Last Blog!
I can’t believe the last blog is here!
I’m sitting here writing this, wondering where on Earth to begin.
My ASPIRE internship year has been the most incredible experience, and not one I will ever forget. I have loved every moment of working with the amazing ASPIRE family, and I know I’ll miss them all dearly. For my last blog, I thought it would be nice to reflect on the wonderful year.
Where else could I begin except the infamous ASPIRE production! ‘Disconnected’ 2024 was one of ASPIRE’s best yet, I feel so privileged to have been a part of this wonderful show. I loved getting to see the show come together piece by piece each week, it was a truly eye opening experience to see how each individual ensemble brought their talents to the production. Production week was definitely a major highlight of my year, there is nothing I love more than the behind-the-scenes chaos of a show.
Shortly after production week came to a close, it was time for me to start up with my Junior Theatre Maker’s group! I felt a huge mix of excitement and nerves, writing a script and bringing it to life was a creative responsibility and privilege I’d never had before. I adored working with the talented bunch, I definitely learnt as much as they did during the process. The piece was funny and shared an important message about the value of teamwork and unity.
Term four then suddenly rolled around, and Senior Theatre Makers was happening! I loved the first few weeks of brainstorming and devising; I was in complete awe of the creativity in the room. The piece titled “Mother Nature VS Humanity” is comedic yet absurdist (tickets are on sale now!). I’m very excited for the performance next Tuesday, I think it will be a wonderful and unique show.
And of course, halfway through term 4 we had the Manning Creative Arts Project! It was an awesome opportunity to work with talented kids less central to our diocese. It was such a fun week, learning scripts, songs, and creating costumes, props and back drops. Outside of work hours, I loved spending time with the ASPIRE team exploring the Manning!
Next year I’m off to Screenwise to keep learning about all thing's creativity and drama, and I can't wait to continue building my knowledge I’ve gained this year!
Overall, I have had the most incredible year, and I know that everything I’ve learnt and the memories I’ve made will stay with me for a lifetime. I am so grateful for the year I’ve had with ASPIRE, and I’m very sad to leave. Butttt… even though I won't be intern any more, I don’t think ASPIRE will be able to shake me off that easy. Everybody knows that once ASPIRE family, always ASPIRE family.
Signing off one last time,
Intern Sophie.
