Marvellous Manning Project

Marvellous Manning Project

Hello again readers,

Today is my first day back in the office after ASPIRE’s big week in the Manning! Last week the ASPIRE team spent four days with the talented creative arts kids from the Manning Region creating a play.

With just two days to learn and create an entire piece, these kids from years five to eight buckled down to create an amazing piece of theatre. We had 4 separate ensemble groups: drama, vocal, band and visual design. Monday and Tuesday were spent creating and rehearsing at St Clare’s High School, Taree. Wednesday was our first day in the theatre for the tech rehearsal and dress rehearsal. Then on Thursday we were straight into a matinee followed by an evening performance!

I think it’s also important to know that the next best thing in the Manning Region would’ve had to be the amazing food. I can safely say the whole ASPIRE team ate enough food (and more than enough dessert) to last us a whole year.

I loved the excitement of putting together a whole show in just four days. I certainly got some weird looks running through Big W buying out complete stocks of the same clothing items. But on a more serious note, our week in the Manning has definitely been a highlight of my internship, and a week I won’t forget for a very long time.

Tonight, Anna and I are back into Senior Theatre Makers, and I must admit I’m very excited to see what the talented group did last week. I am absolutely loving what we’ve done with our time so far, I adore the piece.

After that, we’re off to Luke’s house to begin preparing for next years show! As excited as I am to catch up with everyone and contribute my ideas, it certainly is a bittersweet feeling knowing it means my internship is coming to a close. This has been the most amazing year; I’ve loved every minute of my time as a part of the ASPIRE team! I already can’t wait to see what this incredibly talented group put on next year.

Until next time, intern Sophie.
