Here We Go Again

Here we go again… I’m back for my second blog of the year!

I hope you didn’t miss me too much, unfortunately I’m writing this a week late. Who knew being the Aspire intern could get so busy! I know all you dear readers are sitting on the edge of your chairs wanting to know what I’ve been up to these past few weeks, but your wait is over! Its now time to fill you all in.

First of all, I’ve had the marvellous privilege of helping to organise the ANZAC event, my very first project to be apart of during my internship! Over the past couple of weeks I’ve had the opportunity to help in conducting research for the event, and I have very thoroughly enjoyed learning about the ANZACS and what they did for Australia. The meetings I’ve attended have been incredible, getting to collaborate with people from all over the world as we form a script for the event. This afternoon when I head back to the office, we will be having our first rehearsal for the dramatic portrayal of certain elements, which I’m very much looking forward to.

You’re all probably wondering why I said “when I go back to the office” for the ANZAC rehearsal? I know you’re all thinking, “but Sophie, it’s a Thursday! Don’t you work in the office on a Thursday?” Well yes, my dear readers, I usually do. But not this Thursday! Right now I am writing this at the creative choreographic workshop with Lauren! Today is the second and final day of the stage two workshop, and we are currently waiting on parents to arrive for the final performance! Over the past two days, this amazing group of young dancers have helped in creating and perfecting three amazing routines! Watching these kids has completely blown me away, the amount of talent in this room here today is simply incredible! Do not fear, it is not too late to sign up for the senior create choreographic, all details are on our website!

Last week, Anna and I spent the day at St Joesph’s Charlestown, doing drama workshops with all different kids and year groups! I loved this experience, working with the kids was so much fun! I absolutely loved hearing the creative and often hilarious ideas they came up with, things Anna and I didn’t even think of! At lunch time Anna and I got a free lunch which personally I thought was pretty cool, and somehow they knew that caesar salad wraps are my favourite? Kind of weird, but certainly no complaints from me!

And last, but most certainly not least, I want to update you on the amazing, incredible, breathtaking, crazy progress the big production has made over these past few weeks! I had the privilege of sitting in on the senior drama auditions and being apart of the conversation to give these brilliant young actors and actresses their roles, after a very impressive audition! The script for the first half of the show is now complete and looking incredible as ever! This week at rehearsals the singers did their movement audition, and my gosh were they wonderful! I thought I was watching the dancers at first, what wonderful moves those guys have. I cannot wait to watch the show come alive with over a hundred people on stage dancing!

Anyways, that’s all from me for now. I’ll aim to write again soon but no promises, I’m a busy intern!

Until next time, Sophie.
