Back To Reality

Back to Reality

Its time to go back to reality here at ASPIRE as the excitement and energy we all have from production week slowly wears off. It’s weird that it’s over so suddenly, I haven’t gotten used to working 9 to 5 just yet, I was so used to our weekly rehearsals! The end of ‘Disconnected’ hasn’t been all bad, since we now have time to get underway with some new and exciting projects.

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting with my Junior Theatre Makers group for the first time, and I must say that I’m very excited to see what we can bring to life over these next 6 weeks. We’re putting on a piece which plays with the idea of what would occur if the athletes of non-Olympic sports hosted their own Olympics.

Junior Theatre Makers is a collection of ten-to-fifteen-minute performances put on by a few different groups of kids, and as ASPIRE intern I have the opportunity to work with my own group. The performances will be held at the Warners Bay Theatre on the 26 September, so make sure to free your calendars and keep your eyes peeled for the release of tickets!

I’m still very much enjoying my school visits, and I am particularly loving working with the students at Holy Spirit Infants School, Abermain. I’ve had the privilege of writing a couple of scripts for some classes, which I’ve had a lot of fun doing. I very much enjoyed taking the creative ideas and thoughts they had and turning them into a fun script with a deeper meaning. On Thursday I’ll be visiting again with Lara and Lauren to assist with choreography and design of the pieces, and I already cannot wait!

We also have our Young Script Writers performance coming up next week also at the Warners Bay Theatre, along with preparation for the Wow gallery and plenty more!

I loved our production of ‘Disconnected’ very dearly, but I am already very much enjoying these new projects and cannot wait to see what the rest of the year will bring.
