Stage Band Ensemble Director
Jessica completed a Bachelor of Music in 2004 and Bachelor of Education in 2006 at the University of Newcastle. She has been working with children in performing arts for the past 15 years in a variety of roles including as a peripatetic teacher, managing her own teaching studio, working with music ensembles and workshops. Jessica has been Aspire’s Stage Band Ensemble Director 2014 to 2016 and Vocal Ensemble Director 2013.
She is a Music teacher at San Clemente High School and was awarded the Monsignor Frank Coolahan Award for Excellence in the First Five Years of Teaching 2011 (Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle).
Jessica is a highly skilled musician with a diverse performance background in clarinet, saxophone, guitar and piano. She has also undertaken contemporary voice training with Francine Bell and Bernadette Matthias at the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music.
Jessica strengths lie in her ability and performance experience in a variety of ensemble types including orchestral, concert band, rock band, stage band, choir and soloist. She has studied conducting, arranging and sound engineering and has been music director for various community and school groups.
She has a diverse performing background including as a member of the University of Newcastle Wind Orchestra and Gospel Choir, Lake Macquarie Winds as well as lead singer/instrumentalist of rock bands ‘Liquid’ and ‘Full Circle’ and currently as an acoustic soloist. Jessica has also dabbled with song writing, reaching the semi-finals in the 1233 ABC Newcastle Music Awards.
She is an enthusiastic teacher and passionate musician who is looking forward to working with the talented students of the Diocese. Jessica is excited and proud to be part of the Aspire program, helping to nurture and develop students’ talents in the performing arts.
