Brian Lacey has been in the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese since 2009. Brian came to the diocese as College Principal of St Catherine’s Catholic College, Singleton a Kinder to Year 12 school in the Upper Hunter. In 2015 Brian was appointed to the Catholic Schools Office Leadership Team as the Head of Religious Education and Spirituality Services and moved into the Assistant Director role from the commencement of 2019. Brian is currently in his thirty first year of senior leadership in Catholic Education having been a principal of small rural and large city schools for twenty six years and more recently as a member of the CSO staff.
Brian is excited to be involved with the ASPIRE program as many of his students from St Catherine’s are former graduates of ASPIRE. Having his own children involved in the Performing and Creative arts for many years (with his youngest son, Dominic still a member of Metropolitan Players) Brian is committed to students from Catholic schools who have a talent in this area to be given the opportunity to participate in a high-quality program that allows them to develop their skills but also enables young people to share their gifts with the wider diocesan community.
“I am honoured to be part of ASPIRE knowing the outstanding reputation this program has in the Newcastle district but also beyond our boundaries. The success of ASPIRE is found in its excellent teachers and staff, enthusiastic and committed students and very supportive parents. I commend ASPIRE to all our families”, said Brian.
